Family of Missing Elderly Iredell Co. Man Say His Body Has Been Found
STATESVILLE, N.C. - WCCB's Terrance Bates spoke with Lindsey Stikeleather's granddaughter this morning who confirmed that her grandfather is dead. She says the 88 year old's body has been found.
Lindsey Stikeleather's abandoned truck was found the next day on Lamb Road and Lewis Ferry Road.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the body of Lindsey Stikeleather was found around midnight Thursday, March 28, 2013, in a wooded area off Eufola Road near Lynn's Lane in Statesville. This is about a mile from where his truck was located.
Detectives followed leads and retraced the steps of the victim. Stikeleather was last seen inside a bank in west Statesville withdrawing money.
He was planning on meeting Bobby Joe Jackson Jr., 45, at the bank to help Jackson repair his scooter. Stikeleather's family told WCCB that Jackson owed the victim past due rent.
Iredell County Sheriff's Office arrested Jackson on charges of murder, kidnapping, and robbery. He is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center awaiting a first appearance in court.
"We have worked hard to bring closure to this case. Detectives are still investigating the cause of death and reasons for this tragic event," says Iredell Sheriff Redmond.
Iredell Search and Rescue, NC State Highway Patrol Helicopter, and other people aided detectives in the search for Lindsey Stikeleather.
