Family of Missing Teens Turns to Psychic for Answers
CONWAY, S.C. - "I feel like my strength gives them strength," says Jackie Ziegler, the young woman who is single handedly holding her family together during their search for 18-year-old Jake Zeigler and his friend, 17-year-old Ray Pierce. Jackie, Jake's sister, is coordinating search volunteers, putting together flyers and doing TV interviews out of a hotel in Conway, South Carolina, about 15 minutes from Myrtle Beach.
The boys were last seen early Saturday morning in their hometown of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. They told friends they were headed to Myrtle Beach in Jake's green G6 Pontiac and haven't been heard from since. Jackie says, "I'm living a nightmare, an absolute nightmare."
There has been no activity on the boys' credit or debit cards. Their cell phones are now shut off but records show Jake's phone sent a text from I-77 in Fairfield County, South Carolina Saturday morning. Jackie worries her brother may be afraid to come home. She sobs when she says, "What would I say to him right now? Come home. That I can't spend another day without you."
The family has turned to psychic mediums for answers. Mary Beth Wrenn helps families and law enforcement solve cold cases. She says, "I get the impression that it was a car accident. Unfortunately at this point...I just want them to be found."
"I keep getting a lot of water, I see the car is under water and I keep seeing that it is under the bridge. You cannot see it by helicopter. Guys, you have got to get on the ground and foot traffic it," she says.
To critics who say someone like Wrenn does more harm than good in cases like these, she says, "It is a simply a tool in the toolbox of law enforcement and for family and if it means at one point that they use psychic ability to find people or get light on the case, then so be it."
Wrenn says she thinks the boys were distracted by a text message before crashing. She has not been contacted by law enforcement. The Ziegler family asked her for her help; Wrenn says she does not contact families without being invited.
