The 2nd annual Charlotte Ultra Run was held this past Saturday at the Clarke-Mallard Creek Greenway here in Charlotte. Avid runners from as far away as Oregon came to participate in the IAU Bronze-level 50k race or the USA Track & Field approved 10k race. Finian Curran, CUR race director was pleased with the turnout and said, " We are very proud of this event and we are happy to see that so many runners have come from all over to participate. Our volunteers have worked hard to provide the very best of everything for them".

Jonathan Fay, Marketing Manager at OhYeah! Nutrition, said “As presenting sponsor of the Charlotte Ultra Run, we felt privileged to supply the participants and runners with our high-quality nutritional products to fuel them for the race and to help them recover afterward. Completing a 50k is an amazing accomplishment, and OhYeah! Nutrition was highly impressed with all of the Charlotte Ultra Run participants. Congratulations to the 50k winners, Mark Carbone and Megan Hovis, who made finishing first in a 50k look easy despite the frigid 27-degree temperature.”

Due to the cold temps, pre/post race ceremonies were held indoors at the Countryside Montessori School gym which is just a few yards from the start-finish line. Emcee for the event was DJ Mike Lamb who kept things moving with his great music and entertainment for the runners and spectators alike.

Lee Timing LLC, provided the stats for both races and results are as follows:
