Former County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts Announces Run for Mayor
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Former County Commissioner Jennifer Roberts says she's running for Mayor of Charlotte. The Democrat became the first to announce her intentions for the 2015 election.
City Council passed her over when choosing the person to fill the remainder of ex-Mayor Patrick Cannon's term. Roberts says that's not impacting her decision to run. She feels she's still the best person for the job.
"I'm looking forward to working with everyone in the city to move us forward. I think I'm the best qualified to help build a team and restore transparency, and I look forward to that opportunity," she said.
Mayor Dan Clodfelter has told WCCB Charlotte that he has no plans to run for the office, but has not ruled it out entirely.
