CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Wells Fargo Championship is underway at Quail Hollow Club.  No Tiger, no Bubba, no problem.  It didn't stop thousands of golf fans from attending what continues to be one of Charlotte's premier sporting events.  WCCB Charlotte sports anchor Kelli Bartik spent the day at Quail Hollow Club.  She found something new for fans this year.

In addition to checking out their favorite golfer, fans are also checking out what's becoming a new favorite hangout spot: the Green Mile Village.  "It's amazing," said Charlotte resident Liza Barker.  "I do find it reall cool that they took out all the trees, put in that whole green mile executive thing, and to be able to have a cell phone area is awesome."

Lake Norman resident T.J. Ford adds, "It adds excitement for the fans and gives them a better experience.  I think it's great.  I'll be back here."

The Green Mile Village includes golf simulators and concessions.
