Harry Jones Fired And Asked To Leave Immediately

CHARLOTTE,NC--Mecklenburg County commissioners voted to fire manager Harry Jones Tuesday night.

Chair Pat Cotham asked Jones to leave the government center immediately, without addressing the public Tuesday.

Reports say the current assistant county manager Bobby Shields has been named the interim for the time being.

Under his contract, Jones is said to get six months salary and benefits as part of a severance package.

No information on why Jones was fired has been released.
