CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- According to information released by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the annual murder rate in Charlotte appears to be falling each year.
There were 52 homicides in 2012, 13 of which are unsolved. There were 55 homicides reported in 2011 and 59 reported in 2010.
Police say that the 2012 rate marks the lowest number of annual homicides in 24 years.
