CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Homicides are up 12% in Charlotte.  Forty-seven people have been killed through the end of October.

Family and friends of the victims lit a special tree in Uptown Charlotte.  It's part of CMPD's Homicide Support Group started by Chief Rodney Monroe.

A mother who lost her daughter four years ago says without the group she would be lost.  The Homicide Support Group meets the first Tuesday of every month.
