CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- There are new efforts to uncover slavery hidden in Charlotte Neighborhoods.

Human trafficking, forced labor, and commercial sex affects about 20,000 people a year in the United States. It is a cash crop done in secret.

Federal, state, and local law enforcement partnered Tuesday to spread awareness in Charlotte.

Homeland Security says you can fight human trafficking by being alert and reporting suspicious behavior.
