CHARLOTTE, NC -- The immigration crisis is exploding at the US border, and the impact could soon be felt in Charlotte.  The backlog of pending immigration cases is at an all-time high, and the number of cases involving children is alarming.  California, Texas and New York have the largest backlog.    The immigration court in Charlotte has a significantly smaller load, but that might change without action from Washington.

"An immigration reform means lets get on the table, let's talk about it. Let's see who would be the best candidates," said Zhenia Martinez of Action NC.

"Mr. Obama needs to enforce the laws that are on the books. We need to secure our borders, and Mr. Obama hasn't chosen to do that," said Rep. Robert Pittenger.
