Immigration March In Uptown CharlotteCHARLOTTE,NC-- Immigration activist were taking a stand by marching in uptown Charlotte Saturday. The Latin American Coalition sent 35 Charlotte representatives to speak with congress and women in Washington, D.C. as part of a bus tour. Charlotte LAC activist shared stories of their own experiences with deportation Saturday, and say they want new laws that prevent families from getting split up. LAC executive director, Jess George,"So they're members of our PTA, of our churches, of our neighborhoods and Charlotte and North Carolina owe a debt of gratitude to immigrant families. Its time for us to fix the national system to keep people here," George said. The coalition says it's also fighting against the new DMV change involving "pink licenses." North Carolina is planning to hand out striped licenses to undocumented immigrants which activist compare to a scarlet letter. |
