CHARLOTTE, NC -- It was a sea of black and gold in Uptown Friday, and the team spirit is contagious!  People we talked to said they'd been waiting for this night for a long time.  Others said it was nice to have another reason to visit uptown Charlotte.

"Certainly a new vibe for Charlotte," said fan Kristy Detwiler.  "I think it's going to bring people from all over the Carolinas here."

Some people paid up to $150 online for resale tickets to Friday's game.  Game tickets usually go for between $8 and $18.

The Carolina Panthers Purrcussion team helped kick off the Knights' new season as well.  Hundreds of people attended the team's opening ceremony in Romare Bearden Park Friday afternoon.

"Having baseball in our hometown is super exciting," said Suzie Ford, owner of NoDa Brewing Company.  "It's a good day, a beautiful day for it.  Beautiful park, great team.  Very excited."
