Clipping baseball cards to bicycle spokes is old school. A new gadget made locally, gives your kids' wheels a motorcycle sound. Stick on the stickers, clip onto the bike, and let the kids ride in style. Maureen Rafferty says her boys really enjoy kool rider, and she gets satisfaction from being able to hear where they're playing. She says, "The look on their faces when they first start riding. They feel like they're on a real motorcycle. It's very cool." Troy Spencer and Howard McClurd came up with the idea in Monroe. They say it promotes fun and exercise. Spencer says, "It gets kids off the couch, gets them exercising again." McClurd says, "It's made here in the US. Thought of here, developed here and produced here." With the tough economy they really wanted to provide employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities. McClurd says, "Let's face it today jobs are being out sourced everywhere." Packaging the product helps workers develop skills, receive a feeling of self worth and even better, it provides a source of income. McClurd says, "The more we do, the more we keep our local people employed. The bigger we get the more people we're going to need and that's in production, that's in distribution that's in sales its in everything. Why not keep everything right here local." |
