LANCASTER, SC -- Deputies have arrested and charged a Lancaster man with unlawful neglect of a child. According to authorities, they were dispatched to the area of Buford Crossroads in Lancaster in reference to an intoxicated subject on a moped.  Upon arrival, deputies located Christopher Blackmon  walking down the side of the road.  Blackmon was found to be grossly intoxicated and subsequently arrested for public intoxication.

During his arrest, Blackmon said he had left his residence because he ran out of beer and needed to get more. He also told deputies that he had left his children home alone.

Both children were dressed only in diapers.  The 6 month old was found in a playpen and the two year old was found in the bedroom sleeping on top of blanket.

Deputies also found the house in disarray and observed beer cans and food scattered about the residence. Mice were observed running around inside the residence. The Department of Social Services were contacted and the children were left in custody of their mother and other family members who removed them from the scene.
