CONCORD, N.C.--Layaway angels are making an impact in the Charlotte area. But, not all the recipients are keeping their gifts. One Concord family is paying it forward.

Evette Henderson and her daughter Alexandria wrapped the Christmas presents they almost didn't have. Last week, Evette says a manager at Toys "R" Us told her that a layaway angel covered her 200 dollar balance and the bills for seven other customers too."Actually, I was in tears because I couldn't believe there was someone out there would do something like that."

The store manager told Evette that the anonymous benefactor had one condition for her gift. She had to pay it forward. Since she also purchased some other toys, she packed up a bag with some of the toys and put them on a struggling neighbor's doorstep."It made me feel really good that I could do that.  That I was able to help somebody else out," said Henderson.Since October, Toys-R-Us says lay away angels have paid for 15 layaway orders in North Carolina and 700 nationwide. "I know that there are good people out there now and I ended up being one of those good people," she said.

Henderson's daughter said this year's surprise will make her holiday exxtra special. A gift that proves Christmas is about giving, not receiving. "You could have a penny in your pocket but if you give that penny  to someone who doesn't you feel better that you gave it to them," said Alexandria
Tisdale.
