CHARLOTTE, N.C.--A local foundation hosted a fundraiser Wednesday night in Charlotte to help raise money for a Charlotte woman injured during the Boston bombings.

The Be Strong, Stay Strong Foundation held the fundraiser for Nicole Gross at the Charlotte City Club.

The bombings broke both of Gross's legs and left her achilles tendon severed.

The money raised from dinner, entertainment and a silent auction will help cover her medical bills for another surgery next month.

Gross said her upcoming surgery was like "a light at the end of the tunnel."

"It's just giving me hope that I will be off these crutches and won't need them much longer," she said.

The Boston bombings also left Nicole's sister Erika injured.

A teacher in Baltimore, Erika had her left leg amputated below the knee.
