Local Teen Stowaway's Family Files Lawsuit Over His DeathCHARLOTTE, N.C.--U.S. Airways, the city of Charlotte and Charlotte Douglas International are named in a lawsuit over the death of a Charlotte teenager. Delvonte Tisdale breached security and got into a plane's wheel well in November of 2010. The 16-year-old's body was later found on a street near the Boston airport. The incident was even part of a Congressional hearing on airport security. Tisdale's family is asking for unspecified damages. Their suit claims negligence by the city, airport and airline led to his death. The city attorney sent FOX Charlotte the following statement: "The city remains saddened by the death of Delvonte Tisdale and wishes to express sympathy for his family. However, I don't see how the city or the airport could or should be held legally liable for Mr. Tisdale's decisions and actions." |
