Major Storms Cause Power Outages, Destroy Homes

by WCCB News Edge

Early Thursday evening, major storms ripped through Cabarrus County, causing 15,000 residents to lose power.  Twelve people were also displaced after trees fell on their homes.

Holly Lynncrede remembers the moment it happened.  "There was this big noise," she says, "The house shook, and it was like a clap of thunder, but from inside the house.  I looked down the hallway, but couldn't see nothing but blackness, and realized that the tree was through the house."

Early reports indicate that no one was seriously injured, though we are hearing reports of minor cuts and scrapes.  The Red Cross has stepped in to help.
