Man Charged with Sex Crimes Against Adopted DaughterLINCOLN COUNTY, N.C.-- A Denver man was arrested in connection with rape of his adopted daughter over a period of several years. Jeffrey Marshall Sempler, 58, was charged Friday with one felony count each of second degree rape, second degree sexual offense, and indecent liberties with a child in addition to two felony counts of sexual offense intercourse by guardian. Police say the abuse occurred more than eight years ago from the time the girl was 6 until she was 14. The victim is now an adult who went to Lincoln County deputies to report the abuse. This incident is still under investigation. Sempler is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. |
