CHINA GROVE, N.C.--A Rowan County man has been arrested after police discovered he was using his employer's customer database to open accounts with online retailers.

Police say Walter Austin had packages from the retailers delivered to vacant homes near China Grove.

Cops watched as Austin pulled into a vacant house and took several packages.  He has been charged with multiple felonies including identity theft trafficking.

Police say Austin's employer, Windstream, is cooperating with the investigation.  They are making efforts to assist in identifying any customers that were possibly victimized.
