Man in Custody After Sexually Assaulting Elderly Woman

BOONE, N.C. -- A Lenoir man was arrested as he left a Boone area elderly care facility, charged with sexually assaulting one of the residents.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Thursday night, Boone Police responded to Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation.  Workers called to report a visiting male relative of one of the female disabled residents had been caught committing sexual acts against the woman. 

Charles Horton, 60 of Lenoir, was apprehended as he walked away from the facility.  Horton was charged with sexual battery and held in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $4,000 secured bond.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
