Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration at Levine Center
January 20-21 -- Sunday 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Levine Center for the Arts presents the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration. Admission will be free and exhibits will celebrate Dr. King's life and teachings.

Legacy Concert With Special Guest Vanessa Bell Armstrong

Legacy Concert: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This moving tribute of music, narration and dance reflects on Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement of America that sparked a nationwide spirit of reflection and change. The concert features the Legendary Gospel Singer, Broadway Actress and Stellar Award Winning Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Charlotte’s Christian School of Dance, the Legacy Concert Choir conducted by Cedric Meek ins, Marcus Graham and Nathaniel Gumbs and many more. Tickets: $20 – $40

19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast
January 21 -- 7:15 a.m.
The YMCA of Greater Charlotte hosts the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast at the Charlotte Convention Center’s Crown Ballroom. The event includes an awards ceremony and a keynote speaker.

The program begins at 8:00 AM and is expected to end at 9:30 AM. Tickets are on sale now at EZ-Tixx.com.

Inauguration Viewing Party + MLK Day Celebration
January 21 -- 12 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Blue Carpet 44 will host an all day event Monday to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama and the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Label, 900 NC Music Factory Boulevard. The event will feature a viewing of the swearing in ceremony on a 20ft screen, live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and a post-inaugural gala. Proceeds will benefit AMPED-4-A-Cure, Florence Crittenton Services, Urban League of Central Carolinas and 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte. Ticket prices vary.
