Murder Charge Dropped For Man Who Killed Friend

MOORESBORO, N.C. (AP) -- A murder charge has been dropped against a Cleveland County man accused of killing his friend in a fight over drugs.

Prosecutors say they now think evidence shows that Matthew Moore killed Kevin Lee Cole in self-defense.

Moore was arrested earlier this month and charged with murder after Cole was found dead on the back porch of a home near Mooresboro. He had been shot.

Officers now think Cole pulled a gun on Moore, the two struggled over it, and then Moore fatally shot Cole.
