Neighbors Upset Over Growing Davidson SchoolCHARLOTTE, NC - Spinnaker Cove residents say they've been fighting a losing battle with Davidson Day School. The issues with the school date back to the time it opened but now it's getting worse. As the school grows so do the problems for neighbors. Jennifer Looney bought her home before Davidson Day School was built, "We bought specifically in Spinnaker Cove for the trees, we wanted these trees, it's so private, so quiet." Fast forward to today and her backyard looks a little different, "We have a school in our backyard, we have games and lights at night and we hear cheering." As the school continues to grow, neighbors say so do the issues that come along with it, like privacy. One of the biggest concerns among neighbors is the growing number of storage units on the school grounds. Residents say it's going to make it a tough sell for future buyers, "As far as re sale is concerned, most people are going to question the sound, there going to question the lights, there going to question some of the equipment." Still neighbors like Lee Cundick are seeing lots of light behind all of those cut down trees, "I see kids playing and I see them running around and it gives me a piece of mind because there always saying our kids aren't getting any exercise, we'll at Davidson Day School they get exercise." Spinnaker Cove Board Members met with the principal at Davidson Day School. Board Members are say they are hopeful that they will reach some type of common ground. |
