CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Media, called to attend what was described simply as a "significant announcement" at the Charlotte Chamber Monday. Chamber president Bob Morgan setting the stage, citing the importance of international business to the Charlotte region. He says, "There are slightly fewer than 1,000 foreign owned companies that provide jobs to the people in this region."
Eileen Cai, the chamber's Asian Sector Economic Development Vice President, broke the news. Pactera Technology International is expanding in Charlotte and making the Queen City it's US headquarters. She says, "Pactera's decision to open it's US headquarters in Charlotte will create 200 new high paying jobs." Cai says the jobs will pay about $100,000 a year.
Pactera Vice President of Sales and Marketing in Charlotte Doug Vinson calls them the "largest company you've never heard of." The company is based in Beijing and employs more than 23,000 people in 36 offices across the world. Pactera services 70 Fortune 500 companies with software development testing and IT services. Vinson says, "Clearly, Charlotte's position as the second largest financial center in the country was an attraction."
Pactera currently has offices in SouthPark that employ 60 people. It'll hire the 200 new employees over the next three years.
