CHARLOTTE, N.C.--The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts and Culture is joined by Google, The Green, House United and Fox News as organizers of special events scheduled during the Democratic National Convention in Uptown Charlotte. Many don't want to reveal their private party plans. But, Charlotte city officials say 19 V.I.P. gatherings are expected throughout
the D.N.C.

"We think there is going to be a number of people and visitors who are going to come out and visit our museums and cultural centers," said Sharon Holm of the Harvey B. Gantt Center. The center says its hosting a group of Democratic delegates from the Northeast. That's just one of the private parties the center is planning.Their latest exhibit, "America...I Am" will also be open to the public during certain days during the week of the D.N.C. It highlights the history of African American contributions to the U.S.

"We're basically opening it to different aspects and we just think people are going to really enjoy the facility and the exhibition," said Holm.

While many organizers won't reveal their party plans, we are told some announcements are scheduled next week.
