Gastonia--True-Beam Radiotherapy allows Oncologists at the Caromont Cancer Center in Gaston County to deliver more precise radiation treatments than ever before.

Doctors say the treatment targets cancer cells and minimizes damage to healthy cells.

It also allows patients to return to their normal routines as early as the day after the first treatment.

This type of treatment matches what patients receive at nationally known medical centers.

Doctors say it will help with the treatment of prostate, breast, lung and colon cancer.

Dr. Charles Meakin of the CaroMont Cancer Center said, "We think the new features of this machine will lead to much easier treatments on patients."
