New Uptown Stadium Breaks Ground FridayCHARLOTTE, NC -- After years of delays and legal battles, the Charlotte Knights break ground Friday on the team's Uptown Stadium. The nearly $54 million BB&T Ballpark will be built in Third Ward between South Mint and South Graham Streets. A ceremony will be held at 11AM Friday. Construction should be finished just in time for the 2014 season. Money from the city, county, the Knights, sponsors, and the Hotel Motel Tax will pay for the stadium.
