Owner of Sheppard Welding Plant Killed in ExplosionKINGS MOUNTAIN, NC -- 69-year-old Gerald "Randy" Sheppard was killed after a diesel fuel tank exploded at his welding shop. According to deputies with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department, the call for service came in just before 10:30 a.m at Sheppard Welding on Bethlehem Road. Sheppard, the owner, was attempting to repair a hole in a diesel fuel tank when pressure built up inside of the tank causing the explosion. No other injuries were reported.
