SPARTANBURG, S.C.--The scorching heat didn't keep these die hard fans away. "It's gonna be hot out here, but anything for the Carolina panthers baby," says fan Orji Beaty. Dads like him and Leo Bailey found one way to keep their family cool, snow cones. "Plenty of liquids, plenty of snow cones, and a pocketful of money," says Bailey.

As the players packed the field for practice, the fans packed water, gatorade, and even umbrellas to keep cool and stay shaded. Wesley Nelson and his friend James Ward drove from Boone to watch the practice. They have a recipe to beat the heat. "Ice water, slurries, shade, being lazy helps, don't move done walk don't run," says Nelson.

Ward has a sepcial towel that stays cool and moist for hours. He says this is his ticket to staying cool at this year's training camp. "So I put it on one part of my body and move it around according to where the sun is and where it's hot," says Ward.
