CHARLOTTE, N.C.--The Carolina Panthers could become the California Panthers if Charlotte doesn't play its cards right.

Multiple parties in Los Angeles are very interested in bringing an NFL team to the city and building the team a new stadium.

The Panthers need stadium upgrades which some say could reach $80 million.  National sports consultant Marc Ganis told FOX Charlotte Monday night that the contribution Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is requesting from Charlotte taxpayers is modest compared to what other teams have requested from their communities.

Ganis, the president of SportsCorp Ltd., says, "If it isn't granted with relative ease, it would not be unexpected for Jerry Richardson to at least listen to the siren songs coming out of Southern California."
