MOORESVILLE, N.C.-- A woman accused of stabbing a man during an apparent domestic dispute is a Mooresville middle school teacher.
Dawn Bridget Kavanaugh, 42, was arrested Sunday and charged with the murder of Ronald Everett Ketchum, 43. According to Iredell-Statesville School District, Kavanaugh is a teacher at Lakeshore Middle School. At this time, they say she is suspended with pay.
In a letter sent to parents and students the district said "While we are shocked and saddened by this news, we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open with you to ensure our students are impacted as little as possible."
On Monday, a spokeswoman with the district said that classes ran smoothly and that counselors will be available to students during the week.
The Mooresville Police Department responded to a call on Red Arrow Place where Ketchum was found suffering from a stab wound. He was brought to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
