CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The cash register was going non stop Wednesday night at SA Food Mart in east Charlotte.  The $550 million Powerball Jackpot drew in the every day players and the first timers.  Lotto royalty even made an appearance.  East Charlotte resident Dan Van Nus says, "I do real well on scratch off, (I'm the) Scratch Off King!"

WINNING NUMBERS: 5, 23, 16, 22, 29 Powerball is 6

But the Queen of the Night was the cashier.  She laid out the rules: "One (ticket)? Two dollars!"  Offered words of encouragement: "Good luck!"  And said a lot of this:  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you."  "Thank you, have a good one."

West Charlotte resident Larry Crout is hoping for several good ones...numbers, that is.  If he wins, he'll escape the Charlotte chill and head south.  He says, "Florida!"

The self proclaimed "Scratch Off King" would go shopping.  He says, "I'd buy a couple cars, just stupid stuff."

And east Charlotte resident John Kessler, who says he'd just save the money, was looking for early predictors that he has the winning tickets.  He says, "Oh, I've got one that has two 7's in it.  7 is a lucky number, right?!"

Lottery officials say 130,000 tickets were selling every minute nationwide for Wednesday's drawing.  There's a 75% chance that there will be a winner.
