Puppies Thrown From Car in Pageland*We have to warn you, some of the images may be disturbing.* PAGELAND, SC – “I almost started to cry right away cause it just broke my heart,” says Jefferson, SC resident Brenda Swann.
Along this stretch of Peach Orchard Road in Pageland, a disturbing discovery for Brenda Swann and her husband late Tuesday night.
Four puppies lying dead in the middle of the road.
“They looked to had been dropped one-by-one as the car was going down the road,” she explains.
“It was just heartbreaking to see something like that and hard to believe that somebody could actually do that to a little creature like that,” explains Mike Swann.
They say they could tell the puppies hadn't been here very long when they found them. Now they want to know who's responsible for this.
Mike got a huge response posting the photos on his Facebook page.
The Swanns also filed a police report and the Chesterfield Sheriff's Department is investigating.
Despite the bad reputation the county has when it comes to animal care, the Swanns say they're convinced that, overall, things are turning around.
“It’s my understanding that the Sheriff's Department is getting on top of that. They're trying to change things and make things better. They're having a lot of meetings and stuff. They're tryin' to fix this, so you know, we do have options. Things are gonna be better now,” Mike says.
For now they still don't understand why someone would do this.
“Why do it to a living creature, a puppy, that's man's best friend, those puppies would have made beautiful pets for anyone, and there was other ways for them to have a home,” Brenda says.
