Recycling Plant FireCHARLOTTE, N.C.-- A Fire at a southwest Charlotte paper plant had a nearby propane company holding its breath. Cardboard stock-piles at Sonoco Recycling on Barringer Drive caught fire Tuesday afternoon. Crews say it started in the bottom of an outside bin. Firefighters evacuated the business and no one was hurt. Worker at the propane company across the street say the smoke cloud was huge. It took about a dozen firefighters to put out the blaze. Heritage Propane says it has emergency plans ready in case a fire ever got too close.
