CHARLOTTE, NC-- The father of a Rowan County teen accused of posting nude pictures of girls on Instagram spoke exclusively to WCCB.

Brian Kiever says his son Peter Kiever's arrest may have been politically motivated. Kiever says he thinks his family is being targeted because he's a candidate for Rowan County Sheriff.

On March 27th, Kiever's 18-year-old son was arrested and charged with cyberstalking and exploitation of a minor. He's accused of posting explicit photos of underage teens online. They are charges, Kiever says, his son doesn't deserve because he didn't do it.

"This kid is sitting in there and he's totally innocent and I'll stand by him 'til the end of days," says Kiever.

Kiever, who has worked in law enforcement for over 30 years, says local law enforcement is using his son to try to derail his campaign. The primaries are just four weeks away.

In October, Kiever says police confiscated his son's phone and computer after a 15-year-old girl accused him of cyber-bullying. Kiever says his son was told that nothing was found on either device and that he would get them back a week later.

"Peter says when he called to get them back, all of a sudden they 'lost' his computer, they lost his phone and everything else," says Kiever.

Police arrested him months later. A time-line that Kiever says, simply doesn't add up.

"If they found 14 individual pictures, why didn't they come back and arrest him in November?" says Kiever. "...I want to see the SBI in here. I want to see the justice department in here. I want them to look into this case. I want them to see what's really going on."

Peter Kiever is being held at the Rowan Co. Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
