INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. - The Craigslist ad reads "Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail for sale...the 30 million dollar complex is an absolute treasure!" It was posted June 2nd around 1:15 in the morning. The ad boasts "this building has it all" and lists 15 features, including "nearly 2,000 uncomfortable desks," "300 Stone-age computers" and a "state of the art commercial kitchen (though kitchen only 'cooks' and serves Ol' Roy dog food)." "It's funny, it's like, insightful, somewhat truthful in some of the descriptions of the school," says Will Turner. He is the 2012 Porter Ridge High School senior class president. He says it's a tradition for the graduating class to pull a prank at the end of the year. Previous classes have put soccer goals on the roof, moved bleachers to block the student parking lot and even caulked the front door shut. But this Craigslist ad, Turner says, takes the cake. "It's something, to tell you the truth, class of 2012 at Porter Ridge, it's something we're pretty proud of actually," he says. The Union County School District tells us it learned of the ad Sunday and has reported it to Craigslist. District leaders have "no idea" if it was students and say no one has called to inquire about the ad. Turner says, "I think everyone understands it's a joke but it's probably the most clever prank we've had at Porter Ridge." Other students tell us news of the prank is spreading through the school and everyone thinks it's funny. Craigslist removed the ad around 8PM Monday. |
