LINCOLNTON, N.C.-- A registered sex offender was arrested after violating his status by entering a school.

Michael Wayne Perry, 58, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one felony count of sex offender at or near a child premises.

According to a release, Perry and his wife visited East Lincoln Middle School in January to check a student out of school.

Perry was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
