Sheriff: Man Attempts to Rob Restaurant Armed with an AxLANCASTER COUNTY, S.C.-- A Lancaster man is behind bars after police say he attempted to rob a restaurant armed with an ax. Investigators say David Leroy Deese, 45, entered Rusty's Grill on Pineview Drive in Lancaster early Wednesday morning wielding an ax demanding money. The owner of the restaurant then pulled a gun on Deese, who apologized claiming he was on drugs, before he fled the scene. He was later found by a patrol deputy several blocks from the restaurant, where he was arrested and charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Deese is being held at the Lancaster County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. |
