LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C.-- Deputies with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office are asking for assistance locating a suspect accused of robbing vehicles and a church.

Lucas Wayne Pate, 21, of Monroe, NC, is charged with burglary 2nd degree, three counts of larceny/breaking into a motor vehicle and two counts of damaging or tampering with a vehicle.

According to Deputies, these incidents included four car break-ins in which miscellaneous items were stolen from inside the vehicles.  The other incident stems from a burglary at Taylor’s Grove Baptist Church where Pate allegedly forced entry into the church and caused more than $2,000 damage to the Church and the church van.

“We are thankful to have these results and happy to report these charges.  It is unfortunate however that we have had Pate in mind this entire time and not been able to act.  When it comes to DNA evidence we are at the mercy of the state backlog at SLED.  Now that we have these charges we are going to work aggressively to pursue Pate until he is in custody,” said Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile in a statement.

Anyone with information about the location of Pate is asked to call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 283-4136 or contact Crimestopper’s at 1-888-Crime SC (1-888-274-6372).
