STATESVILLE, NC -- Officials from the Statesville Fire Department say a historic mill fire continues to burn due to access issues after it partially collapsed on Sunday. The fire broke out around 9 a.m. at the Bartlett Milling Company on South Center Street. One employee was treated for injuries described as non-life threatening. The injured employee was driven to the hospital by a fellow employee. His name and condition have not been released.

The explosion happened after two maintenance workers were repairing equipment at the company.

Representatives from Norfolk Southern were called to the scene. A spokesman for the company confirmed they did have some debris that fell from the building onto a locomotive car.
