Student Arrested With Gun, Drugs At Local High School

MARSHVILLE, NC -- An 18-year-old student at Forest Hills High School was arrested on Monday after school officials found a loaded handgun and marijuana on campus. According to a release issued by Union County Sheriff's Department, around 1:45 p.m. a Forest Hills resource officer was notified by school administrators in regards to Stephon Clyburn possessing drugs on school property. Clyburn was questioned by school deputies and later taken into custody for possession of marijuana.

A short while later, his bookbag was searched where authorities say they found a loaded handgun and an additional bag of marijuana. Deputies were able to trace the weapon only to find that it was stolen.

Clyburn has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of a Firearm on School Campus, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
