Arrest Made in Sugaw Creek Park Robbery and ShootingCHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have made an arrest after a man was shot in the parking lot near a recreation center in north Charlotte. On Sunday, around 4:24 p.m., officers received a call in regards to a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound at the Sugaw Creek Park. Medic transported the victim to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Detectives say they were able to determine that the victim was shot while he was being robbed. A white Pontiac SUV was also seen fleeing the scene. The Violent Criminal Apprehension Team was contacted to assist with locating the suspect. VCAT was quickly able to track the location of the suspect to the Canterwood Drive area where they located the suspect vehicle. A short time later, Jango Touray, was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of CMPD K-9. Mr. Touray has been charged with attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and resist, obstruct and delay and has been transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he will remain in custody. |
