Teacher Accused of Sexual Conduct with Student
HICKORY, N.C.-- A Hickory High School teacher is in police custody after being accused of engaging in sexual activity with a student.
Shawnacie Antoine Johnson, 38, of Conover, was arrested Tuesday on five Orders for Arrests after a Catawba County Grand Jury returned True Bills of Indictment on Monday.
The crimes alleged are four counts of Statutory Rape occurring in 2007 and 2008 along with another count of Sexual Activity with a Student by a Teacher in 2009, while Johnson was employed by the Hickory Public School System.
Police launched an investigation in May after being contacted by Hickory Public Schools when an allegation of a sexual nature was received from a current student. Police say more charges could be filed.
Johnson is in the Catawba County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond. Hickory Public Schools has suspended Johnson with pay during the investigation.
