Marvin Johnson witnessed the crash, "There's been really close calls of people coming through and you can hear tires squealing trying to cut back out of the yard. This one is tragic." The witness we talked to says another car took off from the scene. C.M.P.D. has not said if street racing contributed to the crash.
CHARLOTTE--The crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Jose Angel Juarez-Cruz and sent his brother, 19-year-old Javier Juarez-Cruz to jail. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Javier was behind the wheel of a Ford Expedition around one o'clock this morning on Finchley Drive. As he came out of a turn, investigators say the S.U.V. ran off the right side of the road, lost control, and flipped over. Police say younger brother Jose was leaning out of the sunroof--up to his waist-- before he was thrown from the S.U.V. Neighbors say the curve near the carsh has been a problem for years because drivers don't slow down. |
