140 donated Tempur-Pedic mattresses will be distributed to two Charlotte, N.C. shelters, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Tempur-Pedic International and Ashley Furniture HomeStores.

Tempur-Pedic International Inc., a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of premium mattresses and pillows worldwide, is collaborating with Broad River Furniture, a Charlotte-based licensee of Ashley Furniture HomeStores, to donate 140 Tempur-Pedic mattresses to Beds for Kids. A portion of the mattresses will be distributed to two shelters for women and children located in the Charlotte, N.C. area.

Beds for Kids is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a bed and other essential furniture to every child and family in need in Charlotte. The organization worked with Charlotte Family Services to identify the shelters that needed mattress donations. Tempur-Pedic and Ashley Furniture HomeStores delivered mattresses to Elizabeth House, a new shelter, on March 1, and will deliver to Plaza House, an existing shelter for families in need, on March 6.

“When kids and their families are in need of shelter, their most basic necessities include a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep. We’re pleased to collaborate with Broad River Furniture and its Ashley Furniture HomeStores to make this happen for the many Charlotte families and children who are so wonderfully served by Beds for Kids,” said Rick Anderson, president of Tempur-Pedic International Inc.

Broad River Furniture has a history of supporting Beds for Kids, according to Jonathan Ishee, the firm’s chief executive officer. “We donate a portion of every mattress purchased in any one of our seven Charlotte area stores and outlet to Beds for Kids. We are pleased to partner with Tempur-Pedic to give back to the families of Charlotte in this way. There’s nothing more gratifying than helping families rest easier knowing their children have a good bed for restorative sleep that will help them have more productive days.”

“There are more than more than 7,000 children in the Charlotte region who do not have a bed to call their own and we are so grateful to Tempur-Pedic, Broad River Furniture and Ashley Furniture for their efforts in helping us change that,” said Daniel Fogarty, executive director, Beds for Kids. “These companies share our passion and vision to serve the many families who rely on us for beds and other essential furniture.”
