CHARLOTTE, NC -  Americans consume one billion chicken wings and more than 325 million gallons of beer on Super Bowl sunday. Local businesses want in on that, so they're prepping for parties and placing big orders.

The big game is being played hundreds of miles away, but the Super Bowl spirit is alive here in Charlotte.
"A ton of reservations already through open table, people have been calling all week and all day today," said Anthony Cardone, general manager of Kennedy's Premium Bar & Grill in Uptown.
Kennedy's in Elizabeth has secured over 60 table reservations  for Sunday's game. Managers are raffling TV's and have wing and beer specials ready to go.

"They're expecting this to be the most watched television show in the history of America, so we really want to capitalize on that," said Cardone.

Local bars aren't the only businesses getting in on the action. Local bakeries have also seen a spike in business this week.

"Starting yesterday and the day before, maybe 60 or 70 king cakes," said Carlos Suarez, owner of Suarez Bakery.

Add that to orders for football cookies and team cupcakes.

Bill Spoon's Barbeque has also been busy  placing orders for parties up to 50 people.

"It's just good football food," said Steve Spoon.

Most customers are buying in bulk - helping boost sales.

"The Superbowl really helps out from January being slow so it kicks us off in February and hope we can just get even better business from here," said Spoon.
