Troutman Man Charged With Felony AssaultIREDELL COUNTY, NC -- A Troutman man is behind bars and could face felony assault charges. According to police, James Vernell Jones, was arrested on September 1, 2012, for first degree burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. In August, Iredell County deputies say they received a complaint in Statesville that two subjects in a white or silver car broke into a residence and assaulted a female victim. Once inside, the victim stated the black male and white female assaulted her with a knife and rope. She was transported from the scene to Iredell Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Police released a sketch of the male suspect the next day for better identification. Detectives say they were lead to James Vernell Jones based on the victim's statement and by tattoos on the back of Jone's hand. Jones was charged with one count of 1st degree burglary, and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
