The Union County School Board approved a controversial redistricting plan Tuesday night.  Children and parents were angry, some were even crying, after the unexpected vote.  It happened late Tuesday night during a school board meeting in Indian Trail.  Board Vice Chair Marci Savage walked out after the 7 - 1 vote.  The board also turned down a second $3 million offer from the County Commission to buy mobile classrooms.

"I feel that there are some ways that we can extend and fill seats where we need to fill seats," said Indian Trail resident Beth Green.  "But I also don't think that trailers are the answer, and I feel that doing nothing harms us even more."

The district is grandfathering in all current fourth, seventh, and high school students, but they have to provide their own transportation.  The board exempted the Millbridge neighborhood in Waxhaw from the redistricting.  Some parents are already talking about filing an injunction or other legal action.
