VIDEO | Local Teacher Suspended After Telling Students Not to Criticize the President

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C.--A North Rowan High School teacher has been suspended while officials investigate an incident that happened inside a social studies classroom.

One of the students posted a nearly 10 minute YouTube video where the teacher told students that they could face jail time if they criticized President Barack Obama.

The teacher, Tanya Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay. 

A spokesperson for the Rowan-County School System said they expect all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom.
